Which game genres actually kill your battery

People assume big RPGs are the battery villains, but our testing kept surprising us. We took one mid-range phone, fixed the brightness, and played thirty-minute sessions across genres to compare drain.

Racing games were the worst offenders by a wide margin. Constant motion, high frame rates and physics all stack up. Expect fifteen to twenty percent per half hour, plus noticeable heat.

Strategy and simulation games were the gentlest. Static maps and slow pacing mean the GPU barely wakes up. A cozy farm sim cost us less than six percent in the same window.

The sneaky middle ground is arcade games. They look lightweight but push the screen hard with constant animation. Turning off background effects in settings often buys you a surprising amount of runtime.

If battery matters to you, the single best lever isn't the game — it's your brightness and refresh rate. Drop both and nearly every genre becomes survivable on a long day out.
